Hamilton Sundstrand
Retirees Club
Rockford, Illinois

Dear Retiree,

Congratulations: Welcome to the Wonderful World of Retirement

Many of you will be inclined to sit back and watch time go by, while others will engage in their favorite hobby, sport or volunteer project. Some will even look for a part time job to fill their time.

Regardless of the path you choose, one good way to enjoy retirement is to join the “Hamilton Sundstrand Retirees Club.” Our regular meeting is held on the second Wednesday of each month at a location and time as announced in the “Reporter”, our monthly on-line newspaper. This paper also highlights other less formal breakfast and lunches that are held at various times and has pictures of many of the attendees.

To join and make new friends or reacquaint with old friends access the “Reporter” at;

  http://warren88.topcities.com/sundstrand/reporter.htm

and follow the instruction to get on the e-mail distribution. You can also send your e-mail address to RNALESHIRE@insightbb.com and receive a monthly notification of each new issue of the newsletter and an updated retiree e-mail listing.

Welcome to the Club.

ROCKFORD MEETING INFORMATION
Rockford Meeting Information? In it we will provide information on the
meetings for which we have programs lined up and a list of potential
programs for individuals to use to fill in the blanks. It would be nice if
we could set it up so that those taking a program to try to set it up could
reserve it until it in their name becomes in fact a program. That way we
won't lose suggestions if they are not completed and we will know who to
contact in case it falls through the crack. We should also have the name of
the contact person for programs already booked.

1954 to 1988, 34 years of learning experiences.  Hired in Aviation Rockford Tool Design 1954.  Worked as a Tool Designer, Checker and Supervisor.  In 1975 went to Ames to work in processing. Supervised process Engineers for 6 years.  the remaining 4 years period helped built the "L" shop which was an automatic machine shop, raw castings, forgings, in, finished parts out. Raw items were loaded on to multiple station fixtures and transferred from machine to machine until finished complete. Ames Sundstrand Hydro-Transmission is now Sauer owned.  In 1985 was transferred to Denver Aviation, in processing, at that time was supervisor of the tool cribs and helped work with  Rockford programmers to standardize tooling and eliminate duplicate tools, this  eliminated multiple purchasing and promoted larger quantity buying at cheaper prices.  Retired in 1988.
Our personal life has been very enjoyable and productive, except this year I lost my oldest son at the age of 56.  We still have 6, 4 sons and 2 daughters.  They have brought us 11 grandchildren, those have produced 8 great grandchildren. An soon to be a great great grandchild.  They are scattered with a son and daughter in the Denver area, a son and daughter in the Rockford area, a son in Indiana, a son in Orlando, Florida.  In June of this year we took some grand kids, a daughter, and daughter in law.  A total of 10 in a 3 bedroom time share in Orlando.  Some times there were 15 of us to sit at a meal.  Including the son in Orlando, his daughter and 2 grandchildren.
My wife and I have traveled over the years to Puerto Rico, Spain & Portugal, Sweden, Norway, & Denmark, Mexico and Aruba plus a cruise to the Carribean.
In April of 2005 one of my sons and I went to Scotland, (his 40th and my 80th birthday), I played 8(18) hole courses including St. Andrews in 8 days. Jim played 10 courses in 8 days.  It was an exciting time.
Previous to my Sundstrand time I spent time in the Navy from March 1943 to Feb 1947 as a WW2 veteran, there were 28 months in the Pacific theater..
Presently live in Westminster, Colorado. Born and raised in Indiana moved to Illinois in 1954, moved to Iowa 1975, moved to Colorado in 1985.  Retired in 1988. A lot of my time is spent on  the golf course and drinking coffee with some other retired guys.
