Holiday Dinner was the first meeting of the “new “ Sundstrand Retiree Group at the Command Post Restaurant on January 10. There were 50 reservations called in (25 expected) and with that number in mind Yolanda set up a buffet line instead of ordering from the menu. The food was delicious with a wide array of choices. The cost of the buffet was $6.99 plus drink, tax and tip. The result of the meal indicated the need for a change. Therefore the buffet for the February 14th meeting will be $10.00, which will include drink, tax and tip. If the number of anticipated attendees is 21 or more we will have a buffet for the above noted price, if the number is 20 or less we will order from the menu for menu price. Retirees, I trust that you all have gotten the revised e-mail list. It always causes some more changes so another one may be coming out soon. On Wednesday, January 10 over 50 people gathered for lunch to discuss our future since we have lost all financial support from Hamilton Sundstrand. It was a larger attendance than we were having recently when we were subsidized. Here are preliminary plans: Warren Carlson has agreed to provide a web site for us IF others supply the information, pictures etc. It will have a different address each month. He will inform me when it is ready each month and I will notify you by e-mail and provide a link that you can click on to see it. I have seen his preliminary set up and it is great. For instance, he has pictures in color, with names of those attending the meeting. I will also try to include a list of Sundstrand obituaries scanned from the Rockford Register Star with a link through which you can see any of the obituaries that you want. This is not intended to be information for Rockford area residents only! The Arizona crowd can supply pictures (by e-mail) of their annual lunch and whatever else. I would also like to see people tell us what they are doing and what happened to them after they retired. People are sometimes hesitant about giving this as they think that people aren't interested. RETIREE INFORMATION

John Weber 72 years old, last job at Sundstrand Aviation was Contract Section Manager, retired after some 20 years back in 1979 to be an Arizona beach bum. Have been hunting rattlesnakes and making things out of their skins, fangs, ribs, vertebrae and rattles ever since, and living in a remote part of Southern Arizona just 15 miles outside of Tombstone.
