A college boy takes his girlfriend to a football game. It’s
the first
football game she’s ever seen, and afterwards he asks her how
she liked
it. "Oh, I really liked it," she says, "but I just couldn't understand though why they were killing each other for 25 cents." "What do you mean?" "All they kept screaming was: Get the quarter back. Get the quarter back." |

I graduated from South Dakota State University in 1967 and started at Sundstrand in the Product Engineering group. In 1972, I transferred to the Applications Engineering group. I left Sundstrand in
1977 to join the RR Floody Company, www.rrfloody.com, in
East Rock Industrial Park as an Industrial Sales Engineer. I became
president in 1991 and am still working, so I can pay for all of my
fellow retirees Social Security. I have enjoyed my work very much over
the years, dealing with high tech applications in the Northern and
Central Illinois area.
My wife Bonnie and I have two
children, both living in the Minneapolis area. Our daughter is married
and has two children. Our son is single and currently on his second
tour in Iraq with the MN National Guard. He's a Company Commander in
Engineering.
I have been involved through my
church, Our Savior's Lutheran, over the years. I am also on the CASA
board and recently the Salvation Army board.
My wife and I enjoy traveling
and our lake home up on Lake Redstone near the Wisconsin Dells. We
usually go on an annual mission trip to Mexico, but are doing two weeks
in India this next January.
I look forward to hearing from
you all.

Sundstrand from 1960 thru 1962 in Denver as a project engineer on the B-70 CSD and Gearbox. In Rockford from 1972 thru 1989 3 years in engineering and 14 in marketing for the Mechanical div Actuation group. Wife of 37 years Joan Son Kevin living in Chicago working as IT project manager with Granddaughter Grace Son Eric living in Georgia professional fisherman, writer and salesman with granddaughter Nancy, Grandson, Michael, and great Grandson Sammy. Daughter Kathy, living in Panama with Granddaughter Anna and Grandson Alajandro All with spouses. Retired from Kearfott in 1999 as director of engineering and continued half time consulting till 2006. I truly enjoyed my years at Sundstrand which I refer to as ‘the best post graduate school in engineering and management in the world’. My years at Sundstrand Rockford were challenging and rewarding beyond my expectations and it was only after I left and worked for three other aerospace companies as director of engineering that I realized just how good Sundstrand really was. They just did things right. I was able to incorporate a lot of what I learned and saw at Sundstrand in my new position at each company especially in the areas of configuration control and document control. I never had much interest these areas at Sundstrand because someone else took care of them. I do not regret leaving Sundstrand because I think I was able to use what I learned there to benefit my new employers, but similarly I really look back on my years at Sundstrand with great affection. I always respected the people I worked with even though there were a few I had a difficult time understanding why they did what they did. I am really retired now and my wife and I RV about 4 months a year so still get to visit a lot of the people we knew at Sundstrand who live all over this country. We also volunteer at a local crisis center twice a week and really enjoy sitting on our deck looking at the mountains with a glass of wine in the afternoon. I still follow the UAV and VLJ industry because I believe that is the future of the aircraft business. Allyn M Aldrich |
