A state legislator is awakened in the middle of the night by his wife,
who whispers, "I think there's a thief in the house."
"Not in the House, my dear," her husband says. "Perhaps in the Senate, but not in the House." |

SECRETARY’S REPORT SEPTEMBER 12,2007 Sundstrand Retiree’s lunch was held at the Command Post Restaurant at noon. Lou started us off. He said we had a guest speaker, Steve James, from Lifescape and his topic for today -Disaster Planning for Seniors. Doris Lundgren read a Fall Poem and said grace. Lunch was served. Harriet Brown showed us their wedding invitation and all about their wedding on the the 16th of September. Lou told us that Plant #1 was all gone except in memory. The 50/50 drawing was won by Judie Suit, $12.50. I believe that we had 23 present for the meeting. After the meeting a request was made for a financial report for the group. No one answered the call for a volunteer for Treasurer, and therefore we have not opened up an account in the name of Sundstrand Retiree’s Association, but Lou has put together a Financial Report. Here are the most recent entries: On 8/8/07 Income of $9.00, 50/50; Balance 103.95. On 9/12/07 Income $12.50, 50/50, Expense $10, Speaker’s lunch, Income $5.00, Collection, with a Balance of $110.85 which includes the initial $97.00 from Clara’s Birthday donation Respectfully submitted, Joy Cutsforth, Secccretary. |

From Bob Pripps
Email... bnjp@centurytel.net I just got back from a week at the EAA show in Oshkosh. Son Greg was there with me all the time; son Doug, g'son Noah and G'son Tyler came Thurs. and Fri. We had a nice camping spot in the trees, so we had shade. Greg had his tent for he and Tyler, the rest of us slept in Greg's cargo trailer (I had come from a tractor show, so unloaded the tractor and used the trailer for shelter). We had a couple of days and one night of rain, so the shelter was appreciated. Greg volunteered at the camp entrance directing camp incomings. He worked about 40 hours at that, and then had the rest of the time to look around. I worked as a departure briefer every morning from 0700 to about 1100 hours (telling departing VFR pilots the procedures for getting out of controlled air space). For this work, we received our entrance credentials and camping privilidges. The air show was much the same as previous years (high-powered specialty planes, with fearless pilots tearing the hell out of their engines) with the following exceptions: C-130 water drop (fire retardant) demonstration C-17 fly-by, short field landing, followed by backing down the runway and then making a short field take off** F-22 demonstration flight-absolutley amazing!!! U-2 landing Heritage Flight-P-38, F-86 and the F22 flying around in very tight formation. The P-38 was the "Glacier Girl" F-7F Tigercat in mock air race with P51s, Hawker Fury, and FG-2 Corsair. The F-7 was clearly faster. Unfortunately, after the second "race," Two of the P-51s collided on landing, one pilot killed. I have not heard why this happened, but apparently the 1st pilot landed shorter than he should have and the 2nd one didn't see it in time. **The pilot of the C-17 had made several flights to Iraq. He was very complimentary of Sundstrand's contribution to the On-Board Inert Gas System (which pumps nitrogen into the fuel tanks as the fuel is used to prevent explosions from enemy fire).
